Our story

A father, a son, and a box full of flies.

We're Trevor and Caden. Rise & Drift started the way our best days do: the two of us, a couple of rods and a box of flies, somewhere in Yellowstone country.

Where it started

Hooked on the Teton River

Caden caught his first fish on the Teton River, and he's been hooked ever since. That first tug on the line turned into a habit neither of us wants to break.

Most of our free time now points the same direction: toward Yellowstone National Park and the rivers, creeks and lakes that drain out of it. It's where we learned to read water, match a hatch, and lose more flies in the willows than we'd like to admit.

Always looking for new water

New rivers, high lakes and big cutties

Half the fun is going somewhere we've never fished. We love traveling to new rivers and discovering new places to cast a line, even when it means a long drive and a little guesswork.

Lately, that means loading up the side-by-side and climbing into the mountains to fish Idaho's high mountain lakes, chasing big cutthroat in water most people never see. Cold mornings, thin air and a cutty rising to a dry fly: it's hard to beat.

4:30 a.m.

Into the backcountry

Some of our favorite days start before the sun is up. We set the alarm for 4:30, lace up our boots, and hike into the backcountry of Yellowstone to remote rivers and lakes.

Out there the crowds are nonexistent and the animals are as wild as they come. It's just us, the water, and whatever's rising. Those are the days we talk about for years.

Why Rise & Drift

The flies we carry in our own boxes

Rise & Drift is the fly box we always wanted. Our patterns are the ones we reach for in Yellowstone country: proven dries, nymphs and streamers, packed into boxes that are ready to fish the day they arrive.

We write the Journal and the Drift Club river reports the same way we fish: from what we see on the water. When you order from us, you're buying from two people who use these flies every chance we get.

Nothing beats a day on the water together, making memories that last for years. We hope our flies help you make a few of your own.

Tight lines,
Trevor and Caden
